INTRODUCTION

A computer as we all know is an electronic device, which accepts data with the help of the input devices such as keyboards, mouse, lightpen, etc, processes data with the help of the computer processors, and then displays the result (output) with the help of the output devices such as monitors, speakers, etc.

All these parts of computers will be taught as we progress in this free online course on computer hardware.

COMPONENTS OF A COMPUTER

When it comes to a computer system, there are basically two (2) components, which are as follows:

  • Software: The computer software is the component or parts of the computer which we can only see, but can't touch, neither can we feel.

These are program applications which we run or use in the computer system from day to day. Examples include, Facebook application, calculator, calendar, clock, chrome browser, etc.

These program applications can only be seen, but can't be touched or felt. We can only use them to perform their specific functions.

  • Hardware: The hardware components of a computer system are the parts of the computers we can see, feel, and touch.

We use these components just as we also use the software components. These two components work hand in hand. Without the computer software, you can't use the computer hardware, and vise versa. They depend on each other.

In this course, we will focus on the hardware components of a computer system. Some of these components include:

  • Keyboard
  • Mouse
  • Monitor
  • Speakers
  • Motherboard
  • Hard Disk
  • Power Pack
  • RAM, etc.

We will take a look at each and every one of these parts as we proceed. Other parts will be added as well so as to cover extensively this course.

I hope with this it should get you ready for what we shall be learning in this course. Do have a great day, and I will see you in my next post on this course. Thank you so much for stopping by and for your continuous support. I truly appreciate it.
