Misano - Fabio Quartararo realized that he was overshadowed by Francesco Bagnaia after the 2022 San Marino MotoGP. Quartararo admitted that he was not calm after being only 30 points away from his rival.

The Yamaha rider failed to be competitive in the race at the Misano Circuit on Sunday (4/9). Starting from eighth place, Quartararo struggled to get into the leading group of riders so he was stuck in fifth position in most of the races.

Quartararo crossed the checked flag by 5.7 seconds from Bagnaia who came out victorious. For Bagnaia, the victory at San Marino was the fourth in a row after finishing top of the podium in the Netherlands, England and Austria.

The result in San Marino was not enough to shake Fabio Quartararo's throne on the standings. El Diablo is still at the top with 211 points, 30 points ahead of Bagnaia. Previously the distance between the two riders had reached 91 points at the beginning of the second half of this season.
Thus, the world title competition between Quartararo and Bagnaia is heating up. Moreover, the 2022 MotoGP championship leaves only six series.

"I'm not worried, but I'm not calm either," he was quoted as saying by Motorsport. "We knew that, for me, I had a really good race today but only P5, and I was five seconds away from the winner."

"So we're not in a good position. I'm just more consistent than Pecco, but in terms of speed we are very slow," he explained.

Meanwhile Francesco Bagnaia chose to go through one race at a time. Ducati is counting on Bagnaia to claim its first MotoGP world title since Casey Stoner in 2007.

"The distance is still wide, I don't want to think about it. I prefer to think race after race like today. What's important now is that I'm consistent," Bagnaia said in competition with Quartararo.
