The semifinal duel between Alcaraz vs Tiafoe took place at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Saturday (10/9/2022) morning WIB. The two players battled for more than 4 hours before Alcaraz won with a final score of 6-7 (6), 6-3, 6-1, 6-7 (5), 6-3.

Alcaraz, who is only 19 years old, hit 59 winners with only 37 unforced errors. Meanwhile, Tiafoe made more unforced errors (52) with 51 winners.

In the top party, Carlos Alcaraz will face fifth seed Casper Ruud from Norway. Ruud qualified for the US Open final after ejecting Karen Khachanov with a score of 7-6 (5), 6-2, 5-7, 6-2.

Rudd reached the second Grand Slam final of his career after reaching it at Roland Garros last May. Although Rudd had to admit the superiority of Rafael Nadal last June.

The fight between Alcaraz and Rudd will be held on Monday (12/9/2022) in the morning WIB. The two players have only met twice in Marbella (2021) and Miami (2022), which Alcaraz won in straight sets.

"It feels amazing to be able to fight for big things. This is my first Grand Slam final. I can see the world number 1 title, but that at the same time looks very far," said Alcaraz after the match on the ATP's official website.

"I still have one more step against an incredible player. He deserves to be in the final, he has already played a Grand Slam final at Roland Garros. I will give everything I have."

Carlos Alcaraz and Casper Rudd will not only fight for the title of the US Open 2022, but also the title of world number 1 tennis player. Should Alcaraz come out victorious, then he will become the youngest world number 1 in ATP history (since 1973).
