It's probably rare that a movie review or Netflix review isn't plagiarised and I'm sure you'll know that this one isn't 🙂

I've just watched the final 2 episodes (of a 5 part series) with the-mrs-gorilla and when we finish watching something, we tend to rate it on IMDB so that it can give us decent recommendations in the future.

I also rate them on my own account so that I can watch decent action movies instead of dramas.

For me, The Responder got 5/10. I start off by thinking "would I watch it again". If the answer's "No", then the highest it can score is 5. In this case, I wouldn't watch it again. Then it's a question of whether it was bad. 1/10 is reserved for films like Johnny English which are so shit, that you leave the cinema and complain to your brother who let you in for free about how shit it is so that you can go and watch something else.

In this case, "The Responder" isn't bad. To some degree, we binge watched the 5 episodes and it was only in episode 2 that I realised it was Martin Freeman who starred in it. I like Martin Freeman. He was in Sherlock which I would watch again.

This is quite a ramble and I haven't even started saying what happens. As you can see from the picture, Martin's a policeman who has some issues. One of his school mates sucks him in to some bad shit which he doesn't really deal with very well. I won't ruin it for you and tell you what happens. It was frustratingly slow at times and also a bit arty farty for my liking. Wikipedia summarises it as:

Chris Carson is a Merseyside Police officer who has been demoted from his position as an inspector and undertakes a series of night shifts in central Liverpool. His work scenes are interspersed with scenes of him at therapy, at home, and with his mother in a nursing home. He is partnered with Rachel Hargreaves, an inexperienced and still idealistic officer who wants to play by the rules. Carl Sweeney is a mid-level drug dealer whose stash of cocaine has been purloined by Casey, a local baghead. Chris is trying to help Casey and, in doing so, crosses Carl. Other major characters include the naïve local scally Marco, who finds himself out of his depth

Carson is a conflicted and comprised man, with somewhat divided loyalties, a desire to do good but violent aggressive streak brought on by childhood trauma exacerbated by his experience in the police. He has been demoted from an inspector and is pursued by the officer responsible, whose motives may not be entirely honest. The effects of the jobs and Chris' mental state take a toll on his family.

On IMDB, it gets 7.7 (at least it did before my vote) so it's probably better than I give it credit for.
