I will miss all the colorful summertime beauty in my backyard, but the seasons are changing quickly.
We have had our first frost and this lovely coleus plant could not tolerate the cold.
This brilliant orange Bougainvillea Hybrid 'Fire Cracker Opal' was a gift from my Chicago kids last June. And it showed off its beauty in a hanging basket. It needs a lot of sunlight and being able to have sun loving plants on my deck is my one consolation for the loss of a huge old oak tree that fell last fall.
We had such a ridicously hot and dry summer, and the only time that it was enjoyable to be outdoors was very early in the morning, as the sun was coming up. The early morning light is a great time to take a few photographs though.
These common daisies (Bellis perennis) are easy to grow and bloomed happily in a pot at the top of my steps out on the deck.
I went out to water everything with the hose every morning, and that kept all of my flowers blooming beautifully. This Wishbone Flower
(Torenia Fournier) enjoyed the heat and seemed happy in the pot that I planted it in.
I'm hopeful we will have a long autumn and a mild winter!

Right.. The morning light is a great time to take some photos. And that photo will be a meaningful memory.
