Football Is Changing - Unacceptable Back Then.

A lot has changed with football and I don't know if I should focus on the good part and ignore it because I don't know if it's good or bad anymore. Maybe I'm viewing it with a different lens but I am open to correction if I am just focusing on an aspect of it. Gone is the era of loyalty to clubs, the era where the club is bigger than the player and players cringe at the sight of their managers.

Technology and money had changed football with a lot going on beneath the surface that we can't place fingers on as well. I said after Cristiano Ronaldo failed to make the Pre-season that I think it was a mistake to ask him to come back. With the way Cristiano Ronaldo is handling situations and even how Manchester United kept going around it, both parties are not helping matters.

I am a huge fan of Ronaldo but his attitude is unbecoming and he's acting like an 18-year-old player throwing tantrums. I don't know if Sir Alex Ferguson or even Pep Guardiola or Arsene Wenger can accept a player back into the lineup after flirting with so many clubs over the summer. Even before the manager released a press conference about Ronaldo playing on Sunday, he already posted on Twitter that "The king is back" and it made me sick. I love this guy for all he has achieved but the way he handles things can be shocking. I don't think a worthy and true king would act the way he did.

I am not against him demanding the most from his club because of his level of influence and insatiable appetite for success but that's not how to go about things. We know how ridiculous Manchester United is but as a legend of the club and the game, you don't have to make things worse. There are a lot of players looking up to him and I wonder what they would learn from his tantrums lately. The coach and the club are indulging him because of his status but for how long would they have to take what he keeps dishing out which is affecting the club as a whole? How would the mood in the dressing room be especially after all he did in the summer? It's sending a bad signal that the coach is not in charge of things.

He was taken off at halftime during the game against Rayo Vallecano and he didn't even wait until the end of the game to show his displeasure. I don't know what he was expecting, to play a full game despite not having the Pre-season under his belt? The same way he made a public spectacle when he was taken off during Ralf Rangnick's tenure as interim coach. I know he is a proven fighter but there are sometimes you just have to look beyond yourself and discuss things in private because you are a role model for a lot of people. I know a lot of players do this because they want to play but I can remember Rooney going to Sir Alex Ferguson many times after the game is over to ask why he was taken off. There was a time he said he hadn't even spoken before Sir Alex Ferguson shouted at him and ordered him out of the dressing room.

I'm not against Ronaldo feeling the way he is feeling but I feel being who he is; an icon that he is, there are better ways to handle things than to steer so much hate your way and this explains why so many people try to speak ill of him despite his obvious talents.

Money has changed a lot of things in football these days. Gone are the days when you would see a player keep quiet when a coach is speaking. Gone are the days when coaches go unchecked and players just take the stick. Now, even players point accusing fingers at the coaches 🤣🤣😂 which I find amusing. I know we don't operate a robotic game but still, the hierarchy should be followed and respect given not based on popularity or the amount of money being earned but in terms of roles. I wondered how Ronaldo would feel if someone treats him the way he behaves if he owns a football club or he manages a team.

Tevez, as good as he was, was frozen out by Roberto Mancini. Pep also failed to ease Aguero back in regardless of his legendary status with Manchester City... If Pep was the one handling Ronaldo, I don't ever see Ronaldo getting back into that team without a public display of apology and this carefully explains why Manchester United are still struggling as a football club.
