Continued......

Obinna: I hope there is no problem.

Ude: (waves his head) No, all is well, my prince. (To Udoka) My prince, I checked you in your room, but you weren't there. It was princess Amaka who told me you were here. I came...

Udoka: (He looks up to Use) Yes, Ude, the brave one. In fact, out of all palace guards, I like you most because of your smartness. (Smiles). So how many are they? Where did you keep.....

Ude: I, ehmmm, that's why I'm here. I could not pick even one. I went there several times but there was no luck on me today.

Udoka: (Angry). What did you say? (He makes a sign with his fingers to Ude). Come. (He stands) come closer!

Ude: (He comes closer to Udoka).

Udoka: (He slaps Ude heavily) Are you stupid?

Obinna: (surprised) Udoka!

Udoka: (Turns to Obinna). My prince, imagine this wretched thing who survives living by my father's mercy. Ah! gods of our land. Imagine this lazy thing that I asked to go early to the Udara tree and pick some Udara for us, especially for you who just came back. Now look at what he is telling me!

Ude: My prince, I cannot lie to you. I went there first before the first cock crow, and repeatedly I went there seven times before dawn. (Touches his finger on his tongue and raises upward as a sign of swearing)

Udoka: (Hits Ude on the forehead). Liar! Bloody liar!

****Ude:*** (*Staggers backwards)

Obinna: Udoka my brother take it easy.

Udoka: Chai! My God! Run out of these before I pounce on you! Lazy thing.
(Ude leaves, Udoka turns to Obinna) My prince, if you see this Udara that I asked this idiot go go pick. Very big and very sweet.

Obinna: Sit down, my brother. ( Udoka sits)
My brother, life at times is far from what we think it to be

Udoka: I don't understand, my prince

Obinna: That the coconut is always hanging on top, is not enough reason for it to spit on the cocoyam seed which grows under the earth.

Udoka: (smiles). My prince! I'm still confused.

Obinna: That the fowl is housed in the home of people should not be a guarantee for the fowl to laugh at the partridge. The yams which are tied with care in the barn of a rich famer are still the same with yams that were lost far inside the bush, which receive no care, nor protection from wild animals. The only difference is that while the ones in the rich farmers barn are privileged and fortunate, those lost in the bush are not.

Yo vine...

Venir. (Se pone de pie) ¡Acércate!

Ude: (Se acerca a Udoka).

Udoka: (Golpea fuertemente a Ude) ¿Eres estúpido?

Obinna: (sorprendido) ¡Udoka!

Udoka: (Se vuelve hacia Obinna).

Ude: Mi príncipe, no puedo mentirte.

Udoka: No entiendo, mi príncipe
