In our place there are many flowers biduri "calotropic gigantea". This flower often grows in tropical areas such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and other Southeast Asian countries. This flower is also spread in Sri Lanka and India. Characteristics with white petals and purplish flowers, this flower stem can grow up to 4 meters.

Biduri or widuri plants are native to Indonesia. This plant is often found in coastal areas. Generally grow naturally, and so far are more often seen as weeds or nuisance plants. Rarely do people pay attention to him. Even if they happen to see it, people tend to see it at a glance because of its beautiful purple flowers.

However, a plant that is only underestimated in this country, turns out to have an important meaning in several countries. Hawaiians call the biduri an exotic flower, and it is mentioned in various references as the favorite flower of Queen Liliuokalani, the last monarch in Hawaii. The biduri flower in Hawaii is used for lei, a flower arrangement that is given to guests upon arrival or at the time of leaving as a sign of affection.

In India, this plant has become an important object of research by experts to explore its potential compound content as medicine, considering that this plant has long been used as herbal medicine. Biduri flowers are used in various flower arrangements in Thailand because of their long-lasting nature. In Cambodia, biduri flowers are used in funeral ceremonies, to decorate coffins and decorations at funeral homes.

Benefits and Efficacy of Biduri

according to Sastroamidjojo, the leaves of this plant have long been used as an itching and scabies remedy. The flowers are used traditionally as a medicine for asthma and intestinal pain. The sap is used as a medicine for ulcers and toothache medicine.

The content of substances contained in thistle can not be ignored. Many Indonesian people do not know that the widuri plant has properties to cure diseases. Here are the benefits of thistle for health.

  • For gout and paralysis.

If you experience gout and paralysis, this thistle plant can be an alternative treatment. The part that can be used is the leaf. How to make medicinal ingredients is quite easy.

Take three to four dried thistle leaves. Then, steam it with real cooking oil from coconut oil. Then, apply the oil from the steam on the affected body part.

  • Leprosy medicine.

Not only leaves, thistle flower also has properties. Usually, this flower is used to treat leprosy.

The way to make it is to take a thistle flower weighing 0.13 grams, then dry it. After that, boil with water. After boiling, cool and drink the boiled water.

  • Cough and shortness of breath.

To treat coughs and shortness of breath, you can use thistle leaf as a medicine.

Take the dried thistle leaves. Then roll up the leaves and burn the ends. Inhale the smoke produced from the leaves of thistle slowly. Don't forget to inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth.

  • Treat itching.

Apparently, thistle leaf can be used to treat itching. The trick is to apply coconut oil to the widuri leaves. Then, heat it over medium heat, like roasting. Then paste the widuri leaves on the itchy body part.

  • Toothache medicine.

Although this sap contains poison, it still has properties to treat toothache. Take a little thistle sap. Then apply on the affected part.

Only the part that hurts. Be sure to apply it carefully, and don't get in contact with healthy teeth.

  • Canker sores

Still with thistle leaves. You can use the leaves to treat canker sores. You do this by finely mashing the leaves of thistle. Then, add water to the result of the collision. Strain, and apply the water on the mouth that canker sores.

  • Measles medicine

Almost the same as treating itching, but the difference is, widuri leaves are mixed with young tamarind leaves, and turmeric rhizome to treat measles.

All these ingredients are ground until smooth, then add one cup of boiled water, and one tablespoon of honey. Mix well all the ingredients and strain until separated between the leaves and the water. After that, drink the water as medicine.

  • Snake bite medicine

If you are threatened and bitten by a snake, immediately look for the roots of thistles. Take the root of thistle as big as one finger, then wash it thoroughly. Then, chew the root and cover the wound caused by the snake bite with the chew. If you experience a bite that is severe enough, go to the hospital immediately for further treatment.

  • Treat enlarged lymph nodes.

Not only to treat canker sores, the sap of the thistle tree can also be used to treat enlarged lymph nodes. The method is quite easy. Take the sap of thistle, then apply on the swollen glands. Do it regularly.

  • Ear pain medicine.

Thistle leaf also has properties to treat earache. The trick, wash the leaves of thistle until clean. Then mash until smooth and add water. Then strain the results of the collision.

Drop the filtered water into the affected ear. Do it three times a day.
