The mud palace of Naogaon is well known for its architectural significance. No cement, rod, or anything modern is used in the building process but only mud and a few other eco materials like bamboo and hay grass.
The house is located in Mahadevpur Upazila of Naogaon district- Bangladesh. It's a very rural area. Also, it's not a very significant tourists place though people have an interest in this.
I never saw a two-story mud house until this one. Though there used to be a lot of mud houses in rural Bangladesh. But making a two-story house with only mud takes courage and creativity. I came to know that two siblings/brothers made it in 1986. It took them around a year to build and now their sons and family live in the houses.
There are 108 rooms and many doors. We didn't enter the rooms and that was also not open for visitors because people live there. But the place is open to visitors. The mud house is spread over an area of about 21 bighas. That's huge. The pond on the back of the house has been formed there due to heavy soil taking. That's an advantage because it enhances the beauty and serves different purposes of the dwellers too.
We only stayed there for about half an hour or less. We roam around a little bit then leave to visit another historical place which I will share another day.
