A brief recap of the week =/= Ein kleines Wochenresümee 👹🍣🎎 My Japan ENG-GER

Another week is coming to an end. I am getting more and more the feeling that time is speeding up and days, weeks and years are passing much faster than it used to be the case. Of course, people will quickly and explicitly prove me wrong on this point, but every week I come to the same conclusion.

Well, I could be happy about the fact that it's already weekend again, but the weekend too is over in the blink of an eye and I'm back to the beginning of the week. And from there it is only a small step to the next weekend and then I wonder again where the time has gone.

In the past I wasn't really in the best mood on Mondays and couldn't wait to finally beat the first day of the week. Today I don't even have time to think about whether I like Mondays or not.

And especially since the days just fly by, they become more and more important and valuable to me. No matter if it's Monday or Sunday, even if there are appointments and work to do, I want to enjoy and live the day ahead of me. And even on weekdays there are also so many moments when life shows itself from its great and wonderful side.

Maybe I am just more relaxed than before or my expectations are not as high as they used to be. Of course, I still get annoyed quite often and there are still enough reasons to get upset and to worry. But nevertheless, I find so much in my everyday life that excites and fascinates me, and for which I am extraordinarily grateful. And that's regardless of whether it's a weekday or a weekend, or work or vacation.

It's probably due to age, which I try to deny, but the less time you have left, the more important each day and each year becomes. After all, we are already approaching the end of the first month of this new year, even though we were just nursing our New Year's hangovers yesterday. Somehow there is just no time to rest and catch our breath. Too many appointments are lined up and fortunately also some events that I'm really looking forward to. In the past, I could hardly wait and was counting the days, but nowadays I'm not in such a hurry to get there anymore. Because when the big day finally arrives, it's over in a flash and all we have left are our memories.

That's why I don't try so much to hope that the future will happen tomorrow, I'd rather keep still and try to hold on to the moment of the present and live it properly. Sure, even that doesn't always work out the way I would like it to. But it's probably the only way to live in such a way that I don't have too many regrets in retrospect, and have to reproach myself for having missed and wasted opportunities.

I guess that includes spending less time online and much more on physical contact. Nothing beats face-to-face intimacy and the smell of the people you care about. And since I have the great fortune and honor of having really wonderful people around me, I guess that makes me one of the winners after all. And just because time seems to run faster and faster, I want to be together with exactly these wonderful people as often as possible and spend my precious time with them.

And fortunately, I don't only have the weekend, although that's when it gets most intense and cozy. But also during the week I try to get close to the people I love as often as I can. And even if it seems as if time is slipping through our fingers, there is no reason why we should miss out on a firm and genuine hug.

DEUTSCH
