Some places we have already visited many times and they therefore already seem extremely familiar to us. But it can quickly happen that we suddenly discover them from a completely different, new side.

This was the case during our last visit to Tokyo, when we spent a little more time in the historic district of Asakusa, which is very popular not only with domestic tourists. . During previous visits to the Japanese capital, I had been here a few times and got to know the hustle and bustle that prevails in this place. And it was the same this time, although it almost seemed like there were even more people out in the streets than in previous years.

But since we had spent the night nearby, we took the opportunity to explore the area at a rather unusual time. We went out right after waking up and before having breakfast, still way before the first tourist groups had arrived.

Most of the stores were still closed and with their shutters down they showed themselves from a rather unusual side, which was, however, extremely charming. On many shutters there were pictures painted, which depicted scenes from a bygone era, which is held up here in this neighborhood and lived into modern times.

It was really worthwhile to stop every now and then and look at these pictures , which created a very special atmosphere on this sunny morning.

Again and again, I had a smile in my face and enjoyed our morning walk to the fullest. A little good mood so early on could only help to make the day that was still ahead of us even better.

Some stores were already open and were preparing for the coming rush of the many visitors who would soon fill the neighborhood. In particular, the many restaurateurs, of which there were quite a lot here, could hope for good business on this day.

And of course there were also several shops with all kinds of souvenirs for all those who want to take a piece of Japan home. Probably partly produced somewhere else, but who wants to care about such insignificant things? At least there are enough opportunities waiting for the visitors to relieve their wallets.

We looked a little to the left and right and enjoyed the atmosphere around us. There was still not much to see of the hustle and bustle that would soon prevail over here and we were grateful to be able to experience this place from a completely different, relaxed side. We then went back, because breakfast was now waiting for us. And after that we had some big plans that would take us to a completely different part of the city. I will show you more about that in another post...
