THE POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE SIDES OF REGRETS

in motivation •  2 years ago

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog at this hour. We have regrets when we wish we had made a choice that is different from the one we made or when we are disappointed at the result of our actions. Sometimes, we are ashamed and not proud of ourselves. Regrets can stall a person's progress in life when they let it get to them. Well, sit back, relax and enjoy all that I have packaged for your reading pleasure.

Some parents are in so much regrets today because they focus on work at the expense of their family. The kids would have gone to bed before the arrival of the parents and before the kids wake up in the morning they have rushed out to work. It is only the nanny that the kids get to see and speak to. The nanny prepares their meal, and get them dressed for school. This means the kids are not close to their parents and this can lead to so much regrets in the nearest future.

On the other hand, a student who gained admission to the University who knows his or her background and how it was difficult for his or parents to get the money to sort out bills will be full of regrets at the end of the day if he or she does not perform excellently due to keeping bad companies. He or she will be full of regrets when they remember all the pain and stress the parents went through before raising the funds, coupled with the fact that they may be repeating courses in the next session.

Regrets can cause a lot of damage when we refuse to accept them and move on. If you didn't speak up when you were supposed to or you spoke when you were not supposed to, the feelings of guilt and utter disappointment in yourself can affect you negatively that you'd not want to remember the incident in a long time. This kind of self blame can lead to stress, depression, loneliness, or even suicide, in worst cases.

However, regrets can yield a positive result when we take time to reflect on the wrong choices we have made in the past and we decide to accept them and move on. When you learn from your mistakes, it helps you to make better decisions in the future and prevents you from repeating the same mistake next time. But most people are guilty of not accepting that they are responsible for the wrong choices they make and the results that follow. The wallow in blaming others for their actions instead of admitting they are wrong and making the necessary amendment.

If you are having so much regrets over some of your decisions or actions, try to be compassionate with yourself the way you'd do to another person who is in your shoes. Don't be hard on yourself to the extent that it will become pretty bad for your mental and emotional well-being. See the mistake that you have made as an opportunity to learn and become a better version of yourself.

It is not totally bad to have regrets because it could have positive impact on your life. Therefore, it is important to know how to handle your regrets.
