Tramonto a Trapani

Entering its narrow streets in the middle or strolling along the romantic sea will draw you in. But this town is at its best when the sun goes down. At this magical time, people gather in the streets leading to Ligny Tower or Piazzetta dei Tramonti.
The Tower of Ligny is located on the strip of land leading to the sea, between the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Sicilian Channel. It was built in 1671 for defensive purposes, against pirate attacks, it was built with cannons. It was not until 1806 that the tower, later added to the stone extension, was connected to the town by the present road. Even today Torre di Ligny houses the Trapani Civic Museum, in a natural setting in the middle of the sea.

If you want to watch the sunset in a more crowded place than Torre di Ligny, in deep silence, you can choose one of the many beaches. But the place I recommend is called Piazzetta del Tramonto in Trapani. It is a small place in a small space overlooking the sea, not far from Torre di Ligny. I can tell you that you can see a beautiful sunset from here, but I want to try to amaze you, a few lines. from my book. What came out of this magical moment, experienced and recounted in my book Sicilia da Raccontare.
west square The wind rose is a chart that clearly shows the onset of the wind. Its purpose is to show the position of the wind according to the four cardinal points: north, south, east, and west. A marble bench and nothing else, the sea...

the silence -- the peace.
To the right are the houses facing the sea, in the midst of which one appears, the first looking out over the square. A white, dilapidated-walled, dilapidated-looking house, an old fisherman's house. It is now used as a storage room, with blue shutters, under which is a brick bench. One of the stone structures has been damaged and softened by salt and wind, but it has something special. In the center of the deck are handmade tiles depicting windmills, the sea, and the tower of Ligny. Symbol of the village.
Two local elders and two other elders sat down, determined to talk to each other. The wall of the front door, also damaged, but exposed to the air with hand-painted frescoes. Beautiful ocean and dolphins, and sitting on the threshold of a gentleman with a guitar focused on playing slow music.

And as the sun sets, everything turns into poetry, along with the harp. An almost religious silence, now joined by other passersby, eager to savor the essence of this life.
A simple thing, from the sun's rays, reflected in the clear sea that gradually turns red. The sea breeze meeting your face fills your lungs with the smell of life. The music of the guitar, and the sound of the sea, which seems to want to participate as a dance, fragrant and colorful, accompanying these minutes that we wish would last forever. You will find yourself breathing long into the sunset, mindlessly traveling through a time you will never remember. You will see your soul mate sitting beside you and wonder if you ever saw her light up. But even the sun of that day fell asleep, and I went, and the sky was red with it, before I went into the night." I like to see the houses by the sea and admire the people there.
