MY OUTING EXPERIENCE TODAY

in r2cornell •  last year

Hi Blurtians,

How it all started

Today I come with another message. The past few months or weeks I have been blogging about the recent happenings in my country about the New Naira Notes saga and about the ongoing election results collation. You can check to read all the post.

Today I deem it fit to do something different. At least to spice up my writing. After all am not a robot or AI am human so I have daily happenings both the good and the ugly.

Today at around 6:20am open the door to get what my family need to eat for breakfast. I went straight to the barkery to buy hot fresh bread from the oven.

On getting there I bought the biggest size which was around $1 and #500. Fresh hot bread are easy to consume. On getting home I make the tea myself and we all ate before setting out.

Leaving the House

I have plan to visit the abattoir, because I have some unfinished business with my meat sell.

I bought orange on my way. Not for anything but felt like taking orange.

This Alhaji is a nice man. I remember the last time I visited him, he entertained me with lot's of eating to refresh myself.

I can not forget the "nunu mefura" I drank. It's a local drink make from cow milk sold by the Fulani women.

Today on getting to his place, he offer to buy me tea and bread from the "meshayi" which I refuse because I have eaten and full already.

At around 10:30am, I was busy chatting and reading news about the election online when a mouth watering suya was place at my front.

Alhaji told me, pastor this is for you. My eyes pop out, it been a while I ate suya. Suya is a roasted meat sold mostly by the Hausa. I haven't seen anyone who says they hate suya.

I thought to myself, I need to share this with my audience. I was busy eating the suya when I was served a bottle of water to wash down.

Things are getting I eat quietly and gentle as I chew and swallow eat bite of the meat and wash it down. I was eating and never new I was left with three more meat to go.

Few hours I spent at the meat seller store I saw some beggers who came begging for aims. Alhaji was a generous man each one of them he gave something.

That way I believe God has been blessings his business too.

I saw lots of people coming in to buy meat for individual consumption and some for business. Something I experienced which make me think we need a change in government for those who will care about the masses.

A family woman came, a little bit age who came to buy $2 (#1,000) meat a mixture of bone and meat. I couldn't believe when she was asking them to mix bone with the meat. This time not biscuits bone but Strong bone.

Then came this other woman, this particular lady was a old neighbor. We live in the same neighborhood. She approach the meat seller asking them to sell bone for her the one of #300 ($0.9). That was when I saw that lot's of people are living in abject poverty.

At around 2:10pm, I decided to take a walk. Alhaji has been busy with his Hausa members as they gist while he work. I was so lonely so I decided to have a walk and most importantly am beginning to crave for something to eat.

I went to a nearby car park. This car park belongs to the state governments, so every travelers need to come down in other to get book and get a car to travel with.

In this car park, there are lots of store owners who sell variates of snacks, soft drinks and water. At the entrance of the gate I stood for a few minutes to guess the store to that would be having what I need and most importantly have a POS machine because I wasn't having much cash.

I enter the first kiosk owner by a small hause boy. I inquire if he has a POS machine but to my surprise he said No. I stood looking and thinking where I have to try my next attempt. I until I saw some teen young guys who were traveling.

Looking at Their appearing it's obvious this one's are leaving home without parents awareness. They were busy talking and how they were talking about money make me think what else's could be the job of this young guy.

After few minutes I return back to myself, I needed a cold soft drinks. I went back to the Hausa guy store reduce the amount of what I want to get to the available cash I have in my pocket.

I bought bitter lemon teem for myself to quench the thirst. Aftyfew minutes I return back to abattoir to get my meat.

I was happy Alhaji was now done with my meat. I took the meat enter a bike home. The day looks stressful but also very fun because I learn about a lot of things.

Been an introvert, I have been missing lot's of fun that's happening around me but today am happy to experience and be part of it rather than staying all along in the house chatting and reading all by myself.

The election results is yet to be out. Get ready to here from me about the election and also about the new Naira note. A lot has happened which I would love to share.

Yes indeed.

Thanks for this very interesting post about your daily life! Perhaps you may see it as a mostly normal day, not too different from other days. But the details you provide, and the photographs, make it into a story that people around the world can enjoy and learn from. I think it is useful to learn about other people, and other cultures. I myself can't travel from Canada, like some with money and opportunity do. So it's valuable to hear about your lifestyle on the blockchain!
Those breads look very good. Is that a very common breakfast in your area? What kind of flour is used, is it wheat flour or some other kind?
Myself I enjoy bread. The oranges also look delicious. Here in Canada we can't grow organges, so most are imported from places like California, Florida, or Mexico. I do not eat any meat, so the photos of chopped up animals did not appetize me, LOL!
But I can see that you enjoyed a meal of suya. Is that roasted pig? And it looks like some spices to dip it on?
I wonder how will the woman prepare the meat with hard bone mixed in? I did not even know people can eat bones. Maybe to boil them to make a soup?
It's sad to hear about people living in total poverty. I wish nobody in the world would ever be starving, or desperate, or sick, or thirsty. When I was a little boy, I imagined that when I was an adult, the world would finally be free of these things. But it has never happened. Always there are people going without proper water, healthy food, medical care, and love. It should not still be this way. Maybe someday soon we can fix all these problems. I think the world is a wonderful place of plenty, if we can only manage it properly, and stop all the competition and war.
I think that people like Alhaji are the solution. He does his business, and makes a profit for his family, but he also gives back to his community. Imagine if everyone was the same, in their own life? Maybe I will grow tomatoes, and make a living with that, but also give a box to you. And maybe you will do your own business, and give me a small portion when you have extra? This way, we can take care of each other, using our skills and labour, and not rely on governments as a solution. I have seen, no matter what part of the world, government is rarely a sustainable solution for the people. Sometimes they can provide part of our needs, but we should never rely on them, because there is no guarantee they will be there for us. The people are the power, and the people are the solution.
You had a good day, and I thank you for sharing it with me.
