Pride Goes Before A Fall

Good day beautiful people. Hope you all are doing awesome today. In the Bible when there was famine in the land, you remember Abram relocated and Pharaoh wanted to take his wife and God punished the city for that. Now let's look into what happened after when Abram and Sarai were sent out of that town.

In Genesis chapter 13 verse 1, it was stated that Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south. We were told that Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold. And he went on his journeys from the south even to Bethel, unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Hai.

God really blessed Abram with every good thing of life. He was probably the most richest as at that time. After he and his wife were sent out, he had to go back to his base, this time he went with Lot. Remember he made an alter unto God, well that was where he went back to and Abram called upon God there.

Lot was also a very rich man, he had almost everything Abram had and so staying together in the same time became inconvenient for Lot or let me say, pride set in. Something then happened, the herdsmen of Abram's cattle and the herdsmen of Lot's cattle started fighting and having issues.

They both were fighting for their bosses for no menial reasons. You know how political parties and celebrity fans always tackle each other even without the knowledge of those they are fighting for. Later Abram and Lot knew about it and Abram started thinking about how they could stop this fight.

Genesis 13 verse 8 then mentioned how Abram said unto Lot, "Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdsmen and thy herdsmen; for we be brethren." He told there's a whole land before him so he should separate himself from him and take the left hand, then he will go to the right; or if he went to the right hand, then he will go to the left.

Abram was a peaceful man and needed no issue or quarrel between them or their people and so he asked lot for a separation. Now what did Lot do? Lot saw that the plain of Jordan was well watered before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, then Lot decided to chose the plain of Jordan which was at the east as he thought that's the best place and so they separated themselves the one from the other.

I feel Lot was greedy because Abram is ofcourse older than him and he should have given him the respect he deserved and told him to choose first. Well God blessed Abram beyond expectation even though he went to the other side even far more than Lot.
