For the Sake of the Offended|| Por el bien del ofendido [ENG-ESP]

Greetings to you everyone @blurt today.

Matt.15.10 - And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:

Matt.15.11 - Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

Matt.15.12 - Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?

Matt.15.13 - But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.

Matt.15.14 - Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch. (Matthew 15:10-14)

Someone is always offended. This statement has never been more true then in our generation. In my country, people fight to pass legislation to monitor and suppress the population’s ability to offend those in the minority. For the sake of 3-4% of the population, everyone is prohibited from saying things they might find offensive.

Our language has been altered so as to not even hint at what some might consider to be insulting. While many of today’s religious leaders agree with this ‘gentle’ approach, Jesus would have had nothing to do with it. In fact, our reading today clearly shows that the truth matters far more than the fragile egos of those who hear it.

Jesus never watered-down the truth. He never cut corners to keep what he preached from cutting. Remember, Jesus declared, “Do not think that I have come to bring peace on earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.” (Matthew 10:34) Also, Hebrews 4:12 tells us,

“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

If the truth of scripture offends, let it. Perhaps the hearer needs to be offended. If the Word of God is not challenging the lost, it is pointless. There should be a distinction between right and wrong, holy and wicked. If we soften those edges, we harm the ones Christ came to save. Let them be offended because it is through this offense that they will see the truth is different than the lie they have believed. When we compromise in our preaching and teaching, we do a major disservice to the ones we influence.

For the sake of the offended, let us always speak the truth. Truth sets us free. Compromise keeps the bonds of sin tight. We are called to set the captives free with the truth of Jesus’ saving grace. To share anything less is to despise the word of God and condemn those who are lost.

Shalom

Recuerde, Jesús declaró: “No penséis que he venido a traer paz a la tierra; No he venido a traer paz, sino espada.” (Mateo 10:34) También, Hebreos 4:12 nos dice,

1661748093588.jpg

Shalom
