After sipping my nearly finished coffee, my mind suddenly wandered back to the discussion of an article I had written yesterday. Discussing a unique insect, its name is Praying Grasshopper or in Java it is often called Walang Kekek. Some of us may have heard of its name or are even quite familiar with this insect that can rotate its head up to 180 degrees. Insects that belong to this category of carnivorous animals, are also cannibals towards each other. Apparently, these insects have a habit that can be considered quite sadistic and scary in making love. The female locust will immediately eat the head of the male locust after mating. It can be concluded, the ration for a male praying mantis will only experience one marriage in its life. Because after marriage he will die to be pounced on by the female locust. For one sex that the male locust has lived in his life, then he dies and becomes the prey of the female locust. This male praying mantis is willing to die for love. He sacrificed his whole life for the sake of a female locust. This tragic love story actually exists and is real in life. Not only in novels, films, or romance dramas. But actually, behind the story of the praying mantis, there is a wise philosophy for human life. Like seeing the sacrifice of a male praying mantis – it will only be in vain. Because he felt very much in love, he was used by his female who was looking to take advantage of him so that his history was over. If it is likened to a male locust being a male and a female locust being a female, then here the male is the victim. Without intending to disrespect women, but here we see the phenomenon and it also cannot be generalized that all women are like that. Because in the context of this case it refers to the example of the story above. Again, is it wrong for a man to have feelings for a woman? That is not wrong. But it's more about how one looks at love so that it is not misinterpreted so that what arises is only stupidity. Reflecting on the story of human love which is likened to that of a praying mantis, a man who really loves a woman is willing to do everything for her love in an unnatural portion. Grasshoppers are herbivorous insects from the suborder Caelifera in the order Orthoptera. This insect has antennae which are almost always shorter than the body and also has a short ovipositor. The sound made by some species of grasshoppers is usually produced by rubbing the hind femurs against the forewings or abdomen (called stridulation), or by flapping the wings while flying. The hind femurs are generally long and strong which are suitable for jumping. These insects are generally winged, although the wings are sometimes disabled for flight. Female grasshoppers are generally larger than male grasshoppers. Grasshoppers prefer open, valley areas with lots of grass and other low plants, although some other species live in forests or wilderness. Some others are on cliffs, soil, and damp mossy rocks and consume moss. Many species of grasshoppers that live in the grasslands often attack the fields of farmers around. An excess population of locusts will be very detrimental to farmers if they attack crops on plantations. In several countries, locusts are consumed as a source of protein. For example, in southern Mexico, chapulines are favored because of their high protein, mineral and vitamin content. The locusts are usually collected at dusk, with the help of a lamp or flashlight, using a broom net. Furthermore, the grasshoppers are put in water for 24 hours, then they can be eaten raw or by boiling, sun-dried, fried, seasoned with garlic, shallots, chilies, given lime juice, and used for soup or as a filler for various dishes. The grasshopper menu is quite abundant at food markets and street vendors in Central and Southern Mexico. At Chinese food markets, for example the Donghuamen Night Market, locust dishes are served on skewers. In several countries in Africa, locusts are an important food source besides several other types of insects. Grasshoppers are a source of protein and fat for the daily diet, especially during a food crisis. Usually grasshoppers are cooked in soup. The grasshoppers consumed in Uganda and some neighboring regions are called nsenene, although they are actually grass crickets. In several countries in the Middle East, grasshoppers are boiled in salt, dried in the sun, then eaten as a snack. ordinary people process grasshoppers into fried grasshoppers (Javanese: Walang goreng). The types of locusts used are wood locusts and rice locusts which are usually plant-destroying pests. Many insects are predators for grasshoppers, for example various types of ants such as those in the genus Crematogaster.

I found grasshoppers in my strawberry growing area recently. Group in a colony so spend most of the leaves by leaving holes in the affected leaves. Not surprisingly, grasshoppers are animals with big appetites. In a day able to spend food half of his body weight. If one locust can be estimated how many leaves it eats, if it is in a colony, of course it will experience even more losses. This herbivorous insect is able to jump up to 20 times its body length. Its life cycle starts from the beginning of the dry season when locust eggs stored in the ground, leaves or stems will hatch. incomplete metamorphosis. The process of changing the shape of the grasshopper through 3 stages, namely the egg phase, the nymph phase, and the adult grasshopper phase. After the locust eggs hatch, they will become nymphs which are white in color and will turn green or brown when exposed to sunlight. The appearance of the wings becomes the last phase in the nymph stage and switches to the adult grasshopper stage. Adult grasshoppers can survive up to 12 months. The locust predators are rats, snakes, scorpions, spiders and several types of birds. When threatened, the grasshopper will emit a brown liquid, jump high, or will do camouflage, which is in the grass or leaves that have the same color as its body so that it is difficult to recognize and find its predators. Considering the negative impact of the use of chemical pesticides, it is necessary to seek control technologies that are safer and more friendly to the environment. One of the control alternatives is the use of fungi that cause disease in insects, namely the pathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana. In the final stage of its working system, this fungus will release beauverin poison which damages the insect's body tissue. In a matter of days, the insects will die.

This grasshopper reaches an adult size of 85 mm with a dark brown color. When young (nymphs) are green and sometimes there are brown and orange patterns, then turn brown before the skin peels off (moulting). During winter, these grasshoppers hibernate. The habitat of the wood locust is in the leaves on the bushes and in the trees and eats the leaves. Included in the classification of the Acrididae family because of the characteristics of the wood locust, namely short antennae, and there is a tympana (hearing apparatus in insects) on the first segment of the abdomen. Praying Mantis or Locust MantisPraying locust or Locust Mantis is an insect in the order Mantodea. This insect which in English is called Praying Mantis has a habit of closing its two front legs like someone who is worshiping. In addition, this insect also has a terrible habit of making love. The female locust immediately eats the head of the male locust as soon as they finish mating. The male praying mantis is even willing to die for love. The praying mantis consists of around 2,000 species which are grouped into 9 families which are spread all over the world. Indonesia itself has around 200 species, one of the most well known in Indonesia is the Hierodula vitrea species. The praying mantis, apart from being referred to as the sentadu locust, is also known as congcorang (Sundanese and Betawi), walangkadung or walang kekek (Javanese) and mentadak (Malay). In English it is called praying mantis. The word mantis comes from the word Mantes (Greek) which means "prophet" or "fortune teller". The characteristics of the praying mantis are that it has 3 pairs of legs. The two pairs of hind legs are used for walking while the front pair of legs are used for catching prey. The front legs are very strong and the largest in size with sharp spikes on the inside that are useful for gripping their prey. The mantis is one of the few insects that can turn its head 180 degrees.

The praying mantis is a high-level predatory skeleton and is a carnivorous insect that eats all kinds of insects and is sometimes cannibalistic. They are usually silent and wait for their victim with the forelimbs in a raised position. This insect has a good way of camouflage or disguise, some look like leaves, twigs, flowers and so on, so that it is not recognized by other creatures, including the swan. The praying mantis or locust is very selective in eating its prey. This insect does not eat all parts of its prey's body and often leaves legs, wings and other unwanted body parts. Praying mantises are very useful as biological controllers, often used as predators in gardens to control pest insects. The most unique and scary is his habit of making love. The female praying mantis will immediately eat the head of the male mantis once the marriage is over. So a male praying mantis during his life will only experience one marriage and one sex and then die as a prey to the female grasshopper. For the sake of love, this walangkekek (praying mantis) is willing to die at the hands of his partner.3. Green Grasshopper Atractomorpha crenulata is a grasshopper that belongs to the order Orthoptera, with a characteristic green body and is an insect pest.

The Atractomorphacrenulata grasshopper has a body consisting of a head, thorax and abdomen. This grasshopper has the ability to polymorphism in its body color, namely the ability to change its body color from green to brown if the ambient temperature is higher, especially during a long dry season like the last dry season. The higher the temperature, the greater the tendency for the brown discoloration to occur. It is an insect that undergoes an incomplete metamorphosis (hemimetabola). The grasshopper, which looks amazing, has a stone-like pattern, with the predominant gray color complemented by black and white spots. Starting from the eyes, thorax, chest and abdomen to the tips of the wings, they have a very unified color, so they are very difficult to see when they land on material in the form of wood or stone branches. Even the eyes look one with the head, because they tend to be one color. This grasshopper has a size of about 2.5 cm, is calm and is quite docile. Approachable even touched. In field observations, this species chooses locations that are grassy, rocky or even in open ground. When perched on the grass or on a green leaf, it will look very contrasting. Like mud that sticks to leaves or rants
